More screening where you need it

Privacy & wind screens

Taller screening can be planned for selected sides of the deck, using the appropriate glass and supporting system.

Beyond the deck edge

Stairs, handrails, ramps and gates.

The railing style is one choice. How you move through the space is another. Include the steps, landings and access points in the same plan.

Stair railings

Picket or glass sections can continue the deck design along stairs and landings. Stair slope, post placement and the transition at the top need to be planned together.

Separate handrails & pipe rails

A handrail gives you a continuous place to grip. It can be separate from the guard, wall-mounted or supported by posts, with the profile, height and ends specified for the route.

Ramp railings

Ramp rails need their own layout: slope, landings, grip, clearance and transitions. Send the existing ramp or proposed route so we can review the appropriate system and requirements.

Matching gates

Add a matching gate where access needs to be controlled. Opening width, swing, hinges, latches and supporting posts belong in the quote, rather than being added after the railing is installed.

Custom pickets, shapes and colours

Ask about wider pickets, double-top details, basket-weave designs, solid panels or custom colours. We review feasibility, matching components and the installed quote for your layout before confirming an option.

02 · Choose the mounting approach

Base mount or side mount?

These describe where the post attaches. They are separate from the choice of picket or glass. The existing structure, deck edge and surface system determine what can be used.

On top of the deck

Base mount / top mount

A base plate sits on the deck surface and connects into the supporting structure beneath it. Backing and water protection need to suit the deck system.

The post base takes up some surface space. It must connect to suitable support, rather than relying on the deck boards alone.

Beside the deck edge

Side mount (fascia mount)

The post connects at the side of the supporting structure. The connection, fascia clearance and edge details need to be planned together.

Useful to compare when you want the post base off the walking surface. It is not automatically suitable for every existing deck.

Mounting sketches show position only, not construction details or dimensions. We confirm the actual connection for your site before installation.

03 · Decide how much of the view to keep

Clear views, tint or more privacy.

Compare clear glass with these six catalogue finish samples. Tint changes the appearance; texture and frost change the view through the panel.

Screening varies with light, viewing angle and the chosen glass. Review the actual finish before ordering. Not every glass finish is available in every railing system or thickness.

Coordinate the frame colour.

Black, white and yard bronze are starting points to discuss. Confirm the current finish, matching components and availability with your quote.

  • White
  • Yard bronze

Screen colours are approximate; physical finish samples govern the selection.

04 · Understand the details

The small parts finish the system.

You do not need to build your own parts list. We match the posts, rails, brackets, glass connections and hardware to the approved layout. Open the guide below to see the parts used at straight runs, corners, walls and stairs.

Before the site visit

The practical questions.

Can you replace only the railing?

Yes, we can assess a railing replacement on an existing deck. We check the structure and mounting areas first; any required repairs or preparation are included in the proposed scope.

Can I mix glass, picket and privacy sections?

Tell us which sides need a view, privacy or stair access. We review compatible sections, transitions and supports as one layout before quoting.

Does tinted glass make the deck private?

Do not choose tint on that assumption. Compare the samples and the view from both sides. The amount of screening depends on the glass, lighting and viewing angle.

What about stairs, handrails and gates?

Include them in your enquiry. Stair sections, separate handrails, gate swing, latches and landings are decisions to resolve with the overall railing plan.

How high will it be, and do I need permits or engineering?

Those requirements depend on the address, deck and exact system. We confirm the applicable height, openings, connections and approval requirements for the project before ordering.

What maintenance should I expect?

Expect cleaning and periodic checks of the finish, connections, glass and gate operation. We provide the care information for the products specified; report loose or damaged components rather than continuing to use them.

How much does supplied-and-installed railing cost?

Length alone does not tell the whole story. Posts, corners, glass finish, stairs, gates, removal, structural preparation and access all affect the installed quote. Send photos and a rough length to start.

What should I send you?

Your community, photos of the whole deck and its edges, approximate railing length, stairs or gates, your preferred style and any privacy concerns. Rough measurements are enough to begin; we check final ordering measurements.

Send your railing ideas

Materials + installation

One clear supply-and-install plan.

  1. Send your ideas. Photos, your community, rough railing length and any stairs or gates are enough to start.
  2. Review the site together. We check the layout, supporting structure, mounting and any removal or repairs.
  3. Get the scope in writing. Your quote covers the chosen materials, preparation and installation. Final measurements, availability and the proposed schedule are confirmed before ordering.

The installed price depends on length, posts, corners, glass, stairs, gates, access and preparation. Required drawings, engineering or permits are confirmed for the specific project.
